BNM Hobbies Free-mo End Tie Plate Version 2 or ETPv2. (1 Piece)

These PCB parts were machined exclusively for us!

The parts create the standard Free-mo interface joint, using a 2" fitter rail. They are used at any module end currently interfacing to another Free-mo module, using 2" fitter rails.

There are two changes over the original ETP.

The first change was adding a full tie space or trough on the end of the tie plate that goes away from the module end. This helps space the last tie on the flextrack or handlaid track the correct distance off the tie plate and gives it a more uniform look as it transitions between the two.

The second change was adding a half tie space or trough on the end of the tieplate that interfaces to another End Tie Plate Version 2(ETPv2) on the other side of the module gap. The idea being that you'd get a uniform tie spacing across the gap making it more visually appealing.

These two additional spacers, can be scored and snapped off if you don't want to use them and then you'll have the same size and shape tie plate as the original ETP was.

In order to reduce costs of the boards, and pass on the savings to you, I made two additional changes. First, I ordered these without the copper base to reduce the cost associated with the copper. The lack of this bottom copper layer, also prevents a shorting problem that was experienced based on the way some people where installing the tie plates. Secondly, I also chose to eliminate the holes on the boards, which some folks were using to hold down the tie plates while the glue dried. The 8 holes on the board, added almost $1.00 to the cost of the board, which I felt was an unnecessary cost. I think for those that want the holes, it's simple enough task for them to drill these with a drill bit in a pin vice.

Please note that these boards are designed to work with many different manufacturers of Flex Track, all of which have different tie thicknesses. As such and by design, these PCB ETPv2 Tie Plates, most likely will need to be shimmed in order to get the ties of the ETPv2 as close as possible to the bottom of the rail before soldering. The shims will create a smooth level transition. I plan on offering shim kits that will provide various thicknesses of styrene material, laser cut to the dimensions of the ETPv2, for use with shimming the tie plate up to the bottom of the rail in order to keep the rails level with the ties on the flex track. It's simple enough to cut your own from styrene sheet, however, please contact me if you have any interest in the shim kits that I plan on offering.

Product picture demonstrates how two ETPv2's are used together to create the uniform tie spacing across the module gap. Product is sold as a single item, not in pairs.
